Green herons are a bird after my own heart because these herons LOVE to fish. Now you might be thinking, okayyyy but all herons "fish" because thats how they hunt! That may be true, but the green heron takes things a step further. They will sometimes utilize lures to attract small fish within striking range. They’ve been observed using flowers, leaves, feathers, and even breaking small twigs off of a branch which they will place on the water just in front of them, waiting on a fish to come within striking distance. They will reposition their bait often, to keep it in range, just like angler trying to lay out their cast in the perfect spot. HOW COOL IS THIS?! This is just one of many reasons I love birds
