Tidal Creek Sunrise
36" x 36" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
This painting was inspired by Dunbar Creek a small tidal creek that flows though St. Simons Island. It takes the boater or kayaker into the larger, Frederica River and from there, the St. Simons Sound. I grew up on Dunbar creek and have many memories traveling up and down this stretch of water; seeing sunrises, racing the sunset, and getting stuck at low tide. Off a small floating dock at the head of this creek is where I learned to throw a cast net! I was around the age of 10 and with the help of my dad and a VCR instructional tape I eventually turned my tangled, crescent moon casts into pancakes. Once I learned how to catch my own bait, I'd spend most summer afternoons down there with a shrimp on a bobber, hoping for a redfish!
